Audit & Assurance — FAQs
Is a statutory audit mandatory for my private limited company?
Yes — every company registered under the Companies Act, 2013 requires a statutory audit each financial year, regardless of turnover or profit. LLPs require one above ₹40 lakh turnover or ₹25 lakh contribution.
What is the difference between statutory audit and tax audit?
A statutory audit is conducted under the Companies Act and covers the truth and fairness of financial statements. A tax audit under Section 44AB of the Income-tax Act applies once turnover crosses prescribed limits and focuses on tax compliance. Many companies need both.
How long does a statutory audit take?
For a typical SME with books in order, fieldwork takes one to three weeks. Timelines depend on the quality of records, number of locations and group structure — we agree a schedule with you at engagement.
What documents do you need for an audit?
Books of account, bank statements, statutory registers, GST and TDS returns, fixed-asset and inventory records, loan agreements and prior-year financials. We share a complete checklist at kickoff.
